Da qualche tempo mi sto dedicando ad approfondire l'argomento "comandi vocali" abbinato al mio personal Hub Home Assistant.
Prima di addentrarmi nell'argomento del giorno, permettetemi di fare un piccolo riassunto delle "puntate precedenti" sullo stesso tema.
Abbiamo iniziato a trattare l'argomento diversi mesi fa, quando Luigi Duchi ha proposto un video dove ha messo alla prova Home Assistant con la creazione di un assistente vocale completamente locale.

In quel caso Luigi Duchi aveva usato un ATOM Echo programmato con ESPHome.

Il risultato era all'epoca molto acerbo e sicuramente torneremo più in avanti a fare ulteriori test a riguardo.
Poco dopo abbiamo proposto una recensione del dispositivo ufficiale che il team di Open Home Foundation, la fondazione che ha creato appunto Home Assistant, ha realizzato in versione preview.

Home Assistant Voice - installazione e prima prova di funzionamento
In questo secondo caso ho fatto prove con i comandi vocali, ma utilizzando il cloud di Nabu Casa e il risultato è stato nettamente più soddisfacente.
Preso dall'euforia, ho cercato di mettere su un progettino per la realizzazione di un assistente vocale usando un ESP32 e un piccolo microfono digitale.
Voice Assist realizzato con un ESP32 e ESPHome con risposta su speaker esterno!
L'aspetto più interessante di questo piccolo progetto è stato quello di riuscire ad usare uno speaker esterno (quasiasi media player integrato in HA) per le risposte dell'assistente.
Infatti, la stragrande maggioranza dei progetti che è possibile trovare in rete, mira ad imitare gli assistenti vocali di Google e di Amazon, integrando altoparlanti dedicati.
Sono riuscito, invece a programmare l'ESP32 per rispondere su uno speaker non direttamente collegato sull'ESP32, visto che molti di noi in casa hanno già abbinati ad Home Assistant altoparlanti di qualità molto alta (Sonos, Arylic, ecc...) e magari anche multiroom.
Ma la vera svolta è arrivata con l'integrazione in Home Assistant dell'intelligenza artificiale.
Il mio assistente vocale personalizzato, si è trasformato letteralmente da un'utilitaria ad una super sportiva!
Ho pubblicato anche a tal proposito dei contenuti che hanno lasciato a bocca aperta anche il sottoscritto!

Ulteriore evoluzione è stata l'aggiunta di un led di stato al mio progettino iniziale.

Led utile a capire quando l'assistente vocale è in ascolto o sta elaborando la risposta.
Aggiungiamo un led di stato al nostro Voice Assist basato su ESPHome!
A seguire mi è stata data l'opportunità di provare la fantastica scheda ReSpeaker Lite 2-Mic Array Voice Kit di seeed studio.
Ad oggi quest'ultima è stata la soluzione più performante e completa che abbia messo in piedi nella mia abitazione domotica.

Basato sul chipset audio e sonoro XMOS XU316 AI, ReSpeaker Lite è un kit di sviluppo open source ad alte prestazioni per assistenti vocali.
Il kit integra l'array a doppio microfono ReSpeaker Lite e un potente processore XIAO ESP32S3, offrendo eccezionali capacità di riconoscimento vocale, riduzione del rumore ed elaborazione vocale grazie agli algoritmi AI NLU integrati.
Questo kit offre l'integrazione del firmware con Home Assistant tramite ESPHome, rendendolo ideale per assistenti vocali intelligenti e applicazioni di domotica.
I 2 microfoni digitali ad alte prestazioni catturano ed estraggono voce e parlato a distanza (fino a 3 metri) anche in ambienti rumorosi, poiché annullano il rumore puntiforme utilizzando due ingressi per microfono.
Come dicevo poc'anzi, questa era la soluzione migliore fino ad oggi!
Perché da oggi in poi potremo ottenere ancora di meglio con il ReSpeaker XMOS XVF3800
Con questo nuovo dispositivo, passiamo da 2 a 4 microfoni ed estendiamo la portata utile da 3 a 5 metri per un ascolto perfetto a 360 gradi.
Questo dispositivo consente un'acquisizione chiara e precisa della voce target in ambienti rumorosi . Offre acquisizione vocale a 360° (fino a 5 m), AEC, AGC, DoA, VAD, de - riverberazione, beamforming e soppressione del rumore rendendolo ideale per l'uso con Home Assistant e altre piattaforme vocali tradizionali per il controllo vocale a lungo raggio e la domotica intelligente.
Come fare con Home Assistant (Voice Assist)
Per programmare il ReSpeaker XVF3800, ho fatto riferimento alla guida al seguente link:

Tuttavia andrò qui di seguito a riassumere i passaggi, soprattutto perché andrò ad esplicitare dei punti non proprio chiarissima della suddetta guida.
La prima cosa che dovrete fare, dopo aver tirato fuori dalla scatola il dispositivo, sarà aggiornare il suo firmware con uno adatto all'uso con Home Assistant.
Infatti il Respeaker XVF3800 necessita di un MCLK a 12,288 MHz per funzionare, ma ESPHome (utilizzato in Home Assistant) non è in grado di generarlo a causa dei limiti dell'API. Il firmware che andremo ad installare fa sì che l'XVF3800 agisca come master I2S, in modo che possa generare i propri clock senza dover utilizzare l'MCLK dell'ESP32. A questo punto il microfono funzionerà correttamente con Home Assistant.

Su questa procedura non posso essere molto dettagliato perché io ad esempio ho usato linux ed ho seguito alcune indicazioni che magari per voi non saranno valide perché userete Windows.
L'unica cosa che devo sottolineare di questi passaggi è che va usato il firmware che trovate al seguente link e che vado ad evidenziare in rosso nell'immagine successiva.

Altra nota che devo segnalare è quella di utilizzare la porta USB-C XMOS (vicino alla porta jack da 3,5 mm) per aggiornare il firmware XMOS, infatti il dispositivo è dotato di 2 porte usb-C. Dovete usare per questa operazione quella vicina alla porta jack audio.

Ulteriore Nota: nel caso il dispositivo non dovesse rispondere ai comandi da terminale come atteso, dovrete importarlo in modalità provvisoria (led rosso centrale lampeggiante).
Come entrare in modalità provvisoria
- Spegnere completamente il dispositivo.
- Premere e tenere premuto il pulsante Mute.
- Tenendo premuto il pulsante di disattivazione audio, ricollegare l'alimentazione.
- Il LED rosso inizierà a lampeggiare: ciò conferma che il dispositivo è ora in modalità provvisoria.

A questo punto non dovrete far altro che preparare la scheda come un qualsiasi nuovo esp32 (eventualmente seguite questo mio video https://youtu.be/xMgDSIG3vuM) e caricarci dentro il seguente codice yaml tramite l'ESPHome Builder dentro Home Assistant.
A questo giro dovrete usare la porta USB opposta a quella usata in precedenza!

Nella sezione WiFi, alle righe ssid e password compilate con i dati (tra doppi apici) della vostra WiFi.
